This is me...

I guess I’ve been putting this off for a while as I never thought it was important to share anything about me, the person behind the brand and instead let my work do the talking. Which I do still believe to a certain extent, but maybe my work would have more meaning and purpose if there was some background behind it….

And so, this is me, Anila…I’m a designer by profession, specialising in retail design for over 10 years. I won’t bore you too much with the details but you can find out more about this on my dedicated website

Paperpad came about as I had this idea of creating cultural prints, specifically of Hindu Gods that would be in keeping with modern home décor. Quite simply I wanted to create prints with meaning and relevance to my culture that I would be proud to display in my own home.

Initially I focused my attention on making them child friendly as usually the modern take on Hindu Gods portrayed them as heroic, comic-like and sometimes even scary. My aim was to represent the qualities of each God in a playful manner using bold, bright colours in a minimal and simplistic form

I started posting the prints on social media platforms (in particular Instagram) and sent a few samples to a couple of influencers who were kind enough to share with their followers and in return gaining me more exposure.

I’ve had great engagement with the brand and prints so far, and humbled that people want to purchase them to display within their homes and even give out as gifts. I intend to add to my collection and would love to hear feedback and suggestions on what you’d like to see more of.

On a personal note, my husband and I currently live in Northwood, London with our baby girl Nivah who is now almost 3 months! We are loving having her with us, even if it is a massive game changer…the sleep deprivation is something we are still coming to terms with! Lol….no doubt this journey into parenthood will bring about challenges as well as many magical moments!

I hope this has been a short but informative introduction to myself and a little bit about the brand I’ve created….it’s still in it’s early stages and continually evolving as I find my feet and learn more about cultures, people and their lifestyle.

Thanks for reading x
